Great search, you'll note that while there are significant references to love, very few have that "sophomoric" I wanna hold your hand feel. Most have a bittersweet and others a generality that's not fixed, leaving it to the listener to frame the meaning. Like most any Dead tunes, the meaning is usually left just ambiguous enough to allow for inserting one's reference.
